LG Optimus G Gets Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

LG Optimus G Gets Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
LG Optimus G Gets Android 4.1 Jelly Bean

Slow and steady wins the race, but with the LG Optimus G Pro already been announced earlier this week, how does releasing the LG Optimus G in Europe work in LG’s favor? Perhaps the thought of Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean accompanying the Optimus G out of the box is tempting enough, as folks living in the US had to settle for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich when the smartphone launched there late last year. I guess waiting does have its privileges, don't you think so?

All right, since the Europe-bound Optimus G comes with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, this can only mean one thing - folks living in the US should be looking forward to some Jelly Bean goodness for their Optimus G in due time.
Having said that, the Optimus G will debut in Sweden first later this month, followed by other European markets shortly which will include France, Germany and Italy. Patience is the keyword here, and additional release details from LG are expected to be part of the equation in due time.
The original Optimus G user interface did gain its fair share of bouquets from owners of the handset, and European Optimus G owners will be pleased to hear that additional user conveniences are going to be part of the mix this time around, with QSlide being upgraded for 2013, letting one run multiple applications simultaneously. Does this remind you of the multi-window feature found on Samsung’s Galaxy Note 2?
QSlide will see transparent screen layers take up the display instead of side-by-side frames, where you can adjust the size, position and transparency variables of the QSlide screen accordingly. QSlide plays nice with the included browser, memo, calendar and calculator apps.
The Safety Care is one for the masses, as the outside world gets more and more dangerous, Safety Care will offer real-world assistance by automatically sending location information to user-designated persons using text messages in select situations.
Last but not least, Privacy Keeper enables one to hide a caller’s information, including the name, number and photo for incoming calls. This information can only be revealed by swiping the icon on the screen, and I am not sure whether this could qualify it as a candidate for Japan’s famous Fujitsu “adulterer’s phone”.
The new Optimus G for Europe will also see other features such as Google Now, Filmstrip View and Expandable Notification being made available. No idea on pricing, so we will leave that up to the individual carriers in different countries.

LG Optimus G Pro Official In Korea, Set For MWC 2013 Appearance

 LG Optimus G Pro
 LG Optimus G Pro

The LG Optimus G Pro has just been officially released in South Korea, making this the latest flagship model from the consumer electronics giant. The LG Optimus G Pro will continue from where the LG Optimus G left off, and it boasts the distinction of being an LG smartphone with the largest display to date yet, sporting 5.5” of Full HD IPS goodness alongside 4G LTE connectivity.

Since this is a flagship model, you know for sure that it is going to come jam packed with high quality components, kicking off with its 5.5” Full HD IPS display that offers a whopping 1,920 x 1,080 pixels at a massive 400ppi, clearly placing it ahead of most of the competition in the same class.
Not only that, with a 3,140mAh battery in tow, you can be sure that the LG Optimus G Pro is not going to die on you halfway through the day, as it ought to be good till you clock out from work. Apart from that, shutterbugs should be happy with its 13-megapixel camera at the back and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing shooter.
Since it sports a massive display by LG’s standards, you can be sure that they want to make full use of every inch of viewing real estate, which is why the LG Optimus G Pro will be equipped with advanced UX features such as Dual Recording and Virtual Reality (VR) Panorama. Dual Recording, letting you capture video with both the front and rear cameras simultaneously, which is practically unheard of. Other creative features thrown into the mix include an upgraded QSlide, Live Zooming and QuickMemo.
The LG Optimus G Pro will be powered by a quad-core 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor that is ably aided by 2GB RAM, sport 32GB of internal memory that can be further extended via a microSD memory card slot, and Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean as the operating system of choice.
Expect to see this puppy appear at MWC 2013 that is happening in a week’s time, never mind that you are not in South Korea.

Nokia Lumia 900 Review

Nokia Lumia 900 Review
All the technology firms have sorted out their fields and likewise Nokia has also paired up with Microsoft as other rivals have chosen Android Operating system. It is not that Nokia has abandoned the most dominated software in the market; some part of the Organization’s production also goes to Android gadgets. But the major focus goes to Window gadgets. It is known that there is not much demand of Windows Phones in the market as there is lots of complexity in the Operating system. But once you get used it then there is nothing on Earth that will make you comfortable as Window Phone.

Nokia Lumia 900 Launch Date

Nokia Launched the Lumia 900 in May 2012. A lot of consideration was given to the device but unfortunately Android market dominated the show. As most of the market eyeballs were being catered by Apple and Samsung. But certainly the specifications of the device are not disappointing at all.

Nokia Lumia 900 Specifications

The Organization managed to give best in this gadget. The device is 127.8 X 68.5 X 11.5mm and weighs almost about 160g. Not bad as far as the Dimensions of the device are concerned to provide a good display.
Nokia Lumia 900 Specifications
Nokia Lumia 900 Specifications

The display of the device is also fine as it is one of top preferred types of the display. The facts tell us that Nokia included AMOLED capacitive touch screen with 16M colors. This type provides a better and clear display as it consists of two layers of glass unlike LCD that has three glass layers. The display is with 480 X 800 pixels, 4.3 inches with almost 217 ppi pixel density. The device has been given the Multi touch option and also the protection of Corning Gorilla Glass.

Sound & Storage

Nokia has given the device all the required sound features, it is supposed to have like 3.5 mm jack, Loud Speaker and Alert types. Other than that the device has not been provided by the Extra Card Slot whereas on the contrary it does have 16 GB of internal storage with 512 MB of RAM.

Other than that device has all the possible connectivity options or features available. The device has been powered by EDGE, GPRS, HSPDA (42 Mbps), HSUPA (5.76Mbps), WLAN, Bluetooth and USB. It is the latest that present in the market these days.

Operating System & Processor

The device has been given one of the best Operating Systems, it has been powered with Microsoft Window Phone 7.5 Mango, Chipset Qualcomn APQ80055, Snap Dragon with CPU of 1.4 GHz Scorpion.

Other Features

Other features like Camera (8MP Carl Zeiss), with Duel Led flash auto Focus, Video recording along with Geo tagging and Secondary camera are also available in the device.

The device seems to be perfect because as far as the specs are concerned they do have some thrill. But only disadvantage is that Nokia Lumia 900 does not differ much from Nokia Lumia 800. If one already posses previous version then there is not convincing argument of buying the new version. All is being concluded that the device is magnificent but there should have been some thrilling features in it.

There are devices that are said to be offering touch less gesture but it has been reported that those devices use the front facing camera to detect the movements, so these kinds of devices require massive energy. Intel Chips In With Its Own Web TV Service

Intel ChipsAnother company has added its name to the Web TV sweepstakes -- a name that's already on many Web-surfing computers: Intel. The microprocessor giant is promising lots of viewing pleasure with its TV technologies, but it faces potential static when it comes to lining up content and designing the right user experience.

Intel is getting inside Internet TV.

What's been grist for rumor mills for weeks was finally confirmed Tuesday. Intel's TV offering -- which won't be branded with the Intel name -- will be a combination hardware, software and content package designed to "delight" consumers, said Erik Huggers, General Manager for Intel Media, during the All Things D Dive Into Media Conference.
Planned for release later this year, Intel's TV package will include hardware that will have a "beautiful" industrial design, said Hugger. It will support live and on-demand TV, as well as apps.
It will also have a camera, which privacy-conscious consumers may want to turn off. The camera could be used for video chats and observing the habits of TV watchers in order to serve up their favorite content when they appear in camera range, and for targeting ads at them.
All those factors could make the camera a controversial element of the package. "People are freaking out about the camera," NPD industry analyst Ben Arnold told TechNewsWorld.
Intel did not respond to a request for comment for this story.

Faster Channel Switching
Software bundled with Intel's TV offering will make its hardware easy to integrate with an entertainment system. Other issues annoying viewers -- slow channel-changing and antiquated channel guides -- will be addressed by the software.
Tablets and eventually smartphones will be supported by the software, as well as the new HEVC (H.265) video codec, rather than the more common H.264 codec.
Although there has been speculation that Intel had found a way to blow up the log jam between technology companies and content holders over bundling what consumers watch, that doesn't appear to be in the cards for Intel TV.
Its TV offering won't be styled after "a la carte" programming. Instead, Hugger said it will be offering "right" bundles -- bundles with content better tailored to a watcher's needs and wants.

Content Nut Uncracked

It's not surprising that Intel couldn't get content providers to budge on bundling, according to Jonathan Hurd, a director at strategy consulting firm Altman Vilandrie.
"There's very little incentive for content providers in the value chain to unbundle, because the TV industry is flourishing with the players that are there," Hurd told TechNewsWorld.
"Why should they upset existing players by offering a new entrant like Intel or Apple or anyone else unbundled channels?" he asked. "There's no incentive for them to do that."
Any hopes of price-sensitive consumers that Intel would make their TV watching cheaper were dashed by the chipmaker at the conference. "This won't be a value-priced service," IDC's Ireland observed. "Consumers won't be subscribing to it because it's half the price of Comcast."
Unlike much content on the Internet, people have shown a willingness to open their wallets for video, said Brett L. Sappington, director of research for Parks Associates. "Intel sees video as the kingmaker in content," Sappington told TechNewsWorld.
"Of all the different areas of content, video is the one people are really willing to pay for," he added.

What's UI Worth to Consumers?

Like Apple, Intel appears to believe that price will not be a barrier to TV watchers buying its product if it can produce a cool device. "What Intel is going after is an improved user experience," IDC's Ireland explained. "Creating better user experiences around video is one of the key value propositions of this."
User interfaces, though, aren't as high on TV watcher's priority lists when considering a new product, countered Altman Vilandrie's Hurd.
"Even though human interface is important, the fact is that price, brand and selection of content are much more important in a consumer's decision of what they're going to use to watch video," he said.
Intel won't be the only player trying to bring innovation to TV in the coming years, predicted industry analyst Jeff Kagan. "This is the beginning of the race," he told TechNewsWorld. "The start gun has just fired."

Google challenges Russia YouTube video ban

Google has filed an appeal with a Russian court challenging the country's inclusion of a YouTube video on an official blacklist.
Google challenges Russia YouTube video ban

The clip shows a woman using make-up and a razor blade to make it appear that she has cut one of her wrists.
A Russian watchdog banned it on the grounds it provided information about how to commit suicide.
Google indicated it wished to use the example as a test case to help clarify the blacklist's rules.
Moscow introduced an amendment to its Information Act in November allowing sites to be taken offline in order to protect children.
Had Google not taken down the offending clip in Russia it could have faced local internet service providers (ISPs) blocking the whole of its YouTube site.
The video remains accessible in other countries.
Entertainment defence
The clip was originally uploaded on 18 January 2012 by Russia-based user SNEG0VA. It had been viewed fewer than 7,500 times when the blacklist came into effect. News of its deletion was revealed by the Russian newspaper Vedomosti.
"We will, at times, restrict content on country-specific domains where a nation's laws require it or if content is found to violate our community guidelines," said a YouTube spokeswoman.
"In this case, we have appealed the decision of Russian Consumer Watchdog because we do not believe that the goal of the law was to limit access to videos that are clearly intended to entertain viewers."
Roscomnadzor (Federal Service for Supervision in Telecommunications, Information Technology and Mass Communications) - the agency in charge of running the blacklist - confirmed that the clip had been flagged by a second watchdog Rospotrebnadzor (Federal Service for Control in the Sphere of Protection Consumers' Rights and Well-Being of Humans) .
Russia's rules state that material can be banned for including any one of three kinds of forbidden material.
Rospotrebnadzor makes rulings about suicide and drugs while Roscomnadzor decides whether items featuring items relating to child sex abuse should be banned.
"The company [Google] fulfilled all requirements of the law (delete the video) and now it is necessary to wait for judgement results," Roscomnadzor spokesman V Pikov told the BBC.
The clip is not the only one Google has blocked on YouTube in Russia, but a spokeswoman for the US firm was unable to say how many videos it had hidden.
Censorship fears
The creation of the Russian blacklist has caused controversy.
Human rights groups have said it might increase censorship since sites can be forced offline without a trial.
The list is meant to be updated daily, and users can check if a site is banned via an online search tool.
The Russian version of Wikipedia, search engine Yandex and social network Vkontakte all protested against its creation warning that it posed a risk of "extra-judicial censorship".
Activists have subsequently raised concerns that LJRossia - a blogging platform "created to support freedom of speech" - was recently added following allegations that two posts on it had contained "child pornography elements".
Other sites associated with the net's subculture, including a Russian version of discussion and image post website 4chan, have also been targeted.
The Russian government has stressed that the aim of the law is not to enforce censorship, but rather to protect children.
